On behalf of the members of Upsilon Tau Omega Chapter, I would like to welcome you to our chapter’s web site.
Chartered in Fort Washington, Maryland in 1997, Upsilon Tau Omega has grown from 39 charter members to over 130 active members. In December 2007, with excitement and enthusiasm, we celebrated 10 years of service to our community.
The sorors of Upsilon Tau Omega are guided by the core value of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.: Service to All Mankind. Our members are committed to
Enhancing our leadership skills,
Supporting our programs of service, and
Perpetuating a strong bond of sisterhood (ESP).
As we celebrate this exciting centennial year of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, founded in 1908, on the campus of Howard University, the members of Upsilon Tau Omega will join our sorors in Washington, DC, July 11-19th, to give honor to our founders, to celebrate the birth of our sorority, and to handle the business at hand.
The members of Upsilon Tau Omega Chapter make a positive contribution to Fort Washington and the surrounding communities through our National Program Platforms, which are carried out by our many service activities designed to meet the needs of the community. We provide mentoring, tutoring, debutante cotillion programs, various
walk-a-thons, scholarships, voter registration drives, blood drives, and clothing drives that benefit the community. We also foster leadership development, member reactivation and membership retention. It is our goal to partner with other organizations, and enhance public relations.
Whether you are a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a prospective member, or just someone interested; whether you seek specific information about Upsilon Tau Omega, its activities or programs, or if you are just browsing, we hope that through the pages of our website you will come to understand who we are and learn about the services we have rendered, and the lives we have touched.
Warm Regards,
Lezell W. Murphy
President, Upsilon Tau Omega Chapter
